Her Work
The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) brings leaders together across party lines to develop practical, bipartisan solutions to some of the nation’s most pressing challenges. Its work spans economics, energy, health, housing, human capital, and governance, with a focus on issues that directly affect American families, workers, businesses, and communities—from the federal debt and economic opportunity to health care affordability, housing supply, energy policy, education, workforce development, and the effectiveness of government. BPC’s approach is rooted in finding common ground and advancing policies that can attract support across the political spectrum.
As BPC President and CEO Margaret Spellings, leads the organization, she has placed particular emphasis on strengthening America’s education and workforce systems and preparing Americans for a rapidly changing economy. In 2025, Spellings and BPC established the Commission on the American Workforce, which brought together leaders from education, business, government, and technology to develop a national talent strategy. That work culminated in A Nation at Risk to a Nation at Work, a blueprint focused on aligning education and workforce systems, creating clearer pathways to careers, and removing barriers to economic opportunity. Spellings continues to make education, workforce readiness, and economic mobility central to her public leadership, while also engaging on broader challenges including health care, housing affordability, federal fiscal policy, and bipartisan governance.
